Chelsea and Arsenal are set to compete against each other for signing Hakan Calhanoglu from AC Milan. Both London clubs have offered contracts to the playmaker whose deal at the San Siro expires at the end of the season.
However, it is expected to be three way battle as Juventus have emerged as the favourites to land Calhanoglu and will be hoping to lure the former Hamburg and Leverkusen playmaker to the Old Lady.
According to Skysports, the Turkish midfielder is seeking a deal worth just over £4m per season, but Milan has offered only £3.4m and is not prepared to go any higher. Calhanoglu is willing to negotiate slightly lower, but not to the level of Milan’s offer keeping things at a stand still.
It is understood that the Turkish playmaker has received offers from Arsenal and Chelsea and both London clubs are keen on luring him to the Premier League on a free transfer.
It is not exactly clear whether Juventus have lodged a formal bid for the midfielder, but it is speculated that the Old Lady are leading the race to secure Calhanoglu’s signature because of their willingness to meet the playmakers wage demands.
The former Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder has notched up seven goals and eleven assists this campaign for Stefan Pioli’s side and he has also been instrumental alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic in Milan’s resurgence as the Rossoneri have mounted an unexpected title challenge.
