Manchester United are looking to bolster their midfield in the summer and have reportedly set their sights on Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez. According to the Daily Star, Saul is pushing for a move to Old Trafford, with Atletico Madrid open to selling the Spaniard for just 40 million pounds.
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is on the hunt for a defensive midfielder, given Nemanja Matic and Fred’s struggles this season, and has identified Saul as the ideal option. The 26-year-old has a release clause of 60 million pounds but Atletico are rumoured to be willing to listen to lower offers.
The Spanish champions are keen to offload several players this summer as they look to deal with the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
United are set to face competition from Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain for the 26-year-old’s signature. Solskjaer’s side, who finished second in the Premier League last season, are also being linked with West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.
