Georginio Wijnaldum has agreed to join Barcelona on a free transfer. The Liverpool star’s contract expires this summer, and he will be a free agent soon.
As per @MatteMoretto, Georginio Wijnaldum will be joining Barcelona in the summer. The journalist adds that the Dutchman will be signing a deal until 2024.
Ronald Koeman was keen on signing Wijnaldum last summer, but the move did not take place. Liverpool and Barcelona could not agree on a fee, and the transfer failed to materialize.
Bayern Munich were reportedly interested in signing the Dutchman as well. However, Fabrizio Romano claims there was no concrete interest from the Bundesliga champions.
Barcelona signed Miralem Pjanić last summer, but he failed to deliver at Camp Nou. Ronald Koeman hardly used the midfielder, and the Dutch manager was keen on signing a new star this summer.
Wijnaldum is not going to be the lone free signing this summer for Barcelona. They already have a deal agreed with Sergio Aguero and are now working on getting Memphis Depay, whose contract at Lyon has expired.
