Chelsea join Serie A clubs in race for highly-rated Italian striker

Torino’s Andrea Belotti could be on his way to Chelsea, with new Blues boss Thomas Tuchel keen on signing a new striker this summer.

Timo Werner arrived at Chelsea for £48m from RB Leipzig last summer but the German striker has failed to live up to his price tag, prompting the Blues to search for a new forward to lead the attack. Furthermore, Olivier Giroud is out of contract at the end of this season and there are doubts about the future of Tammy Abraham.

As a result, 27-year-old Belotti has recently emerged as a target for the Blues as they weigh up their options for a new number 9.

According to Team Talk, there is a €100m release clause in Belotti’s contract, although that would be a hefty price to pay for a player who has just one year left in his deal. It is understood that the Serie A side could accept an offer of around €25m, which would keep Chelsea interested.

However, Chelsea are set to face competition for Belotti’s signature, with two other Italian clubs AC Milan and AS Roma also interested in signing the Torino striker.
