Marcos Alonso has signed a new contract at Chelsea according to reports in ESPN. The Spaniard has seen his wages improve significantly on the deal that runs until 2023.
Chelsea have been holding talks with their players regarding new contract and Alonso is the second player to have agreed a new deal. Pedro was the first to put pen to the paper after he agreed a one-year extension on his current deal.
Alonso was signed by Chelsea in 2016 from Fiorentina for £24 million. He has since then established himself at Chelsea and made the left-back position his own.
ESPN report that the 27-year-old signed the new deal last night and the official announcement will be on Wednesday, 24th of October. Reports also suggest that Chelsea rebuffed interest in Alonso in the summer as they see him as an important member of the team.

Alonso had confirmed last week that he was in talk with Chelsea regarding a new deal and it is no surprise that he has put pen to the paper. He claimed that he was ‘very happy’ at Chelsea and with the offer they have put on his table.
The left-back had also revealed that he was going to sign the new contract in the next few days and Tuesday might have just been the day for it.
