AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma could be departing San Siro for Stamford Bridge for free as Chelsea hope to sign a third goalkeeper in three years.
According to the daily mail, Donnarumma and his agent Mino Raiola have rejected two contract extension offers with talks over his future put on hold. The report also adds that he was initially offered a salary of £5.1million-per-year with an additional £851,000-per-year in bonuses should AC qualify for the Champions League.
It is also believed that his agent Raiola wants his client to earn around £10.2m-per-year to remain at the San Siro.
Chelsea splashed the cash on Kepa Arrizabalaga for £72m in 2018. The Spanish keeper failed to live up to the price tag following his performances. Eventually, he was dropped to the bench and the Blues signed Edouard Mendy as the first- choice. However, Donnarumma’s arrival could see the most expensive keeper’s departure.
Donnarumma has also reportedly garnered interest from clubs such as Juventus, Manchester United and Real Madrid.
The 22-year-old shot-stopper has been impressive for Milan and established himself as the club’s first choice and is also touted as Buffon’s successor since he made his debut.
