The Blues are reportedly willing to bring back Romelu Lukaku to the club and has emerged as one of the top transfer targets as Chelsea look to bring a striker to mount a title challenge next season.
Eurosport understands that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is personally driving the push to bring back the Belgian striker. It is also reported that Roman is ready to back Thomas Tuchel with improvements being considered in attack, midfield, and defense but signing a top-class goalscorer is the first and foremost priority.
Despite signing Timo Werner as the main number 9, the former RB Leipzig striker has failed to replicate his form for his new club prompting the Blues to look for a new number 9 and have identified their ex-striker as their target.
The Belgian striker previously played for the Blues before being sold to West Brom and then sold to Everton. After rediscovering his feet, Lukaku signed for Man United in 2017, but was dropped to the bench following the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer. Eventually, the Belgian striker moved to Inter Milan in 2019 and went on to win Scudetto for the club under Antonio Conte.
Apart from Lukaku, the Blues have identified Erling Haaland from Bvb or Harry Kane from Spurs as alternatives should they fail to sign the Belgian.
However, with Inter Milan facing financial struggles, it is expected that Lukaku could be sold to clear their debts and this could be a chance for the Blues to secure his signature.
