Villareal’s Pau Torres has denied that he will be leaving the club after being linked with Manchester United regularly and insisted that his focus lies on the Europa League final.
According to the metro, it is expected that the Red Devils are looking to sign a center-back for the next season and have identified Pau Torres as a potential target as Solsjkaer looks to add depth in his defensive options.
United have been criticized for signing attacking players instead of defenders and the Red Devils have failed to mount a title challenge post Sir Alex’s retirement. Despite signing Harry Maguire for a record 80 million, United have not found a suitable defender to partner the former Leceister City center-back.
The 24-year-old defender has been impressive for new boss Unai Emery as he helped his side to reach the Europa League final and will be facing Man United who is linked with him.
The Villareal center-back was recently named in Luis Enrique’s side for the European Championship this summer and will be hoping to be in the starting 11 after picking up seven caps in the last two years. The Red Devils are desperately in need of a new defender as they have not been reliable with the likes of Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly.
While speculation still rages over a switch to the Premier League, Torres has insisted that he is entirely focused for the Europa League final and the European Championship.
