Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hit back at Rio Ferdinand following his comments on Manchester United players.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes were in the technical arena along with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and Rio Ferdinand was not a fan of it. The Manchester United legend claims the manager should have shown authority and asked the Portuguese duo to sit down.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was not pleased with the comments and claimed Ferdinand was once again talking about things he doesn’t know.
“Rio, again you know, sometimes he comments on things he doesn’t really know. It should have been a yellow card for the boy when he brought down Nemanja (Matic). Both Bruno (Fernandes) and Cristiano, as competitive as they are, suddenly I had them on my shoulder.”
Solskjaer insists it was just a moment of the duo showing passion on the sidelines and they sat down right after.
“They were there for a brief spell and shouted to the referee. That was the aggravation of getting a few bad decisions against us. But then Cristiano sat down and Bruno sat down. That was just a spur-of-the-moment thing, over a player who should have been sent off. So I don’t have any problem with them showing some passion and then going back down.”
The incident took place in the 2-1 loss to Young Boys on Tuesday in the Champions League.
Manchester United have since bounced back with a 2-1 win over West Ham United in the Premier League and face the Hammers once again this week in the Carabao Cup.
