AC Milan is confident that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is expected to sign a one-year contract extension in the coming days and is likely to remain at the San Siro.
Skysports understands that AC Milan will be retaining his services after the Swedish striker has expressed his desire to extend his stay with the club. On the other hand, negotiations between the club and Hakan Calhanoglu have stalled over the midfielder’s wages demand.
Zlatan rejoined Milan from LA Galaxy and the 39-year-old striker is the club’s current top scorer this campaign with 15 Serie A goals and will earn around €7 million per year (£114k per week) the same wages he agreed for this season.
Since his return to the Rossoneri, the Swedish talisman has made a huge impact under Stefan Pioli as the club has mounted an unlikely title charge.
The 39 year old striker recently announced his return to the Sweden squad in style after a five-year absence and featured in Swedens victory over Georgia.
The veteran striker is a familiar face to Serie A as he played for both Milan sides (Inter Milan 2006-09 and AC Milan 2010-12) and recently became the oldest player to score in the Milan Derby and previously played for Juventus before joining Inter Milan. He also played for Ajax, PSG, Manchester United and LA Galaxy.
